Originally conceived as a candelabra, Agnes takes its inspiration from the fictional heroine of the same name, a worker in the world's oldest profession during the 1849 California Gold Rush. The modular system would allow Agnes easy setup in her makeshift "workspace." In this version, glowing glass tubes replace the candles. Articulated joints allow the glass to be arranged in a multitude of ways.
I was a bit worried it would feel gimmicky, but the way the modules actually lock together is rock solid. It's already the centerpiece of my dining table, and I love that I can reconfigure it whenever I get bored with the setup.
The modular design is just brilliant — I can set it up as a candelabra for dinner, then reconfigure it into a centerpiece without any tools. Beautifully balanced, and the tribute to Agnes feels genuinely thoughtful rather than gimmicky.
The Gold Rush backstory sold me, but the modular design is what really won me over—I switched it from candelabra to a standalone centerpiece in under a minute. It’s got that sturdy, old-world feel without being fussy.
