Originally conceived as a candelabra, Agnes takes its inspiration from the fictional heroine of the same name, a worker in the world's oldest profession during the 1849 California Gold Rush. The modular system would allow Agnes easy setup in her makeshift "workspace." In this version, glowing glass tubes replace the candles. Articulated joints allow the glass to be arranged in a multitude of ways.
I’m still marveling at how the candelabra design works as a sculpture even with the candles out—the gold rush backstory gives it a character most decor pieces just don’t have. The modular base lets me rearrange the arms to fit my narrow shelf, which was a pleasant surprise.
The way Agnes casts light through its modular design completely changes the mood of my dining room, and it sparks conversation every time someone notices the candelabra's historical nod to the Gold Rush era.
It takes a few minutes to arrange the modular pieces just right, but once it's set, the silhouette is genuinely striking. I've had it on the mantle for a week and every guest asks about the unusual layered design.
