Originally conceived as a candelabra, Agnes takes its inspiration from the fictional heroine of the same name, a worker in the world's oldest profession during the 1849 California Gold Rush. The modular system would allow Agnes easy setup in her makeshift "workspace." In this version, glowing glass tubes replace the candles. Articulated joints allow the glass to be arranged in a multitude of ways.
The way it catches the firelight is unreal, even with just a single flame the shadows dance across the room like something out of a movie. It’s sturdy enough to feel like it belongs in a saloon, which is exactly the vibe I was hoping for.
The story behind it hooked me, but the modular build made it feel like a piece of history I can actually shape. I’ve been swapping the sections around to match my mantelpiece, and it’s sturdy enough to hold a taper candle without wobbling. Glad I took a chance on this one.
The modular design let me rearrange it for a smaller dining table, which was a pleasant surprise. It’s got that old-timey charm without feeling fragile, and the gold rush backstory makes it a great conversation piece.
