Counterweight is a series of LED fixtures made of gently arching, steam-bent wood that uses marble and brass as ballasts. Whether acting to counterbalance the lamp of the pendant light, or fixed as the base of the sconce, the mass of the stone and Metal acts as a foil to the otherwise lightweight frames.
The way the steam-bent wood arcs and meets that brass fitting is genuinely elegant — it feels more like a sculpture than a light. The marble counterweight does its job perfectly, keeping the pendant steady at any angle I've tried.
The steam-bent wood arch is even more elegant in person, and the marble ballast gives it a satisfying heft that keeps the pendant perfectly stable. It’s a sculptural piece that doubles as lighting, and I catch myself just staring at the balance between the wood and brass.
The marble ballast gives it real presence, and the wood arch has a warm, organic finish that photographs beautifully. Took a bit of fiddling to get the pendant at the right height, but once it’s set, it holds steady.
