Helgerson's Del Playa is composed of turned wood stems and ceramic shades that recall her childhood on the beaches of Santa Barbara. The materials in this line feel very much of that time and place—the handcrafted aesthetic of California in the 70s.
I wasn't sure how the turned wood stems would feel in person, but they're surprisingly smooth and weighty, and the ceramic shades catch the light in a way that instantly makes me think of a calm coastal morning. It's exactly the kind of quiet, sun-washed warmth I wanted in my reading nook.
The ceramic shades have this lovely beachy texture that catches the light just right, and the wood stems feel warm and organic in the hand. It's like having a little piece of the coast on my nightstand, exactly the vibe I was hoping for.
The ceramic shade is thinner and more delicate than I expected, but the light it casts is genuinely soft and warm. It's like bringing a piece of the beach indoors, honestly.
