Helgerson's Del Playa is composed of turned wood stems and ceramic shades that recall her childhood on the beaches of Santa Barbara. The materials in this line feel very much of that time and place—the handcrafted aesthetic of California in the 70s.
The ceramic shade is thinner and more delicate than I expected, but the light it casts is genuinely soft and warm. It's like bringing a piece of the beach indoors, honestly.
The turned wood stems have a nice weight to them, and the ceramic shades do give off that beachy Santa Barbara feel. But the overall finish isn't as polished as I'd hoped for the price—there's a slight rough spot on one of the stems that I keep noticing.
